In Treatment (2008-2010) - TV Therapy Example
By "bubble" he means that she's locked herself up in this Ivory Tower of status (working for an
institute) afforded to her by her profession. She's at the top of her career she's a leader in her fields, and totally and utterly out of touch from what real people have to go through experiencing psychotherapy and he's saying there's a huge disconnect here, and you are living in a bubble.
You have the luxury of being in this fancy room and enjoying the benefits of your profession and the high status and a lot of money, your colleagues respect and now you have the privilege of sitting in this fancy room and writing a novel, writing fiction, and he says - you're here fantasying about what life could have been and should have been, and it's a sad tragedy. This is pathetic.
It's provocative - He's maybe acting out. he's trying to project the anger that he feels towards himself, the way that he feels responsible for Alex's death. He's projecting it onto Gina.
He's also raising legitimate question about psychotherapy.
